We are from the Northern Region of Costa Rica, specifically from the county of Sarapiquí.
Sarapiquí Educational Rural Tourism, was born out of the idea to help Sarapiquí, its communities at social risk, its schools and its people…we are true Sarapiquí people.
That’s why it is so important to work directly with our collaborators, who are native to this area, heads of families, all of them with some kind of profession or projects (artisans, cooks, agricultures). Each and every person who helps us is taking their family forward, same as their communities … their own little businesses and the schools. Right now we are helping about 11 families from Chilamate, El Tigre, Horquetas and other districts…
We are ready to attend host your groups in our communities; we have families with the experience to accommodate groups of students, as well.
We offer you the opportunity to plant a trees at very interesting farms, dedicated on to reforestation and also taking care of already reforested areas. Some of them are close to the Biological Corridor San Juan- La Selva, also some private reserves, who are making great conservation efforts.
On the other hand, we offer stays at farms, where you can learn a little about cultures how things are grown such as pepper, heart of palm and others.
We offer chats about making “Gallo Pinto”, “Tortillas con Queso” (cheese and tortillas), where you will have a fabulous experience making and sharing our “Tica” (Costa Rican) culture…
Another great way of helping my community is supporting the schools of the Sarapiquí area, schools which never have received any help from any agency; new schools ready to go forward. Our priorities are the children and their education.
You could participate in activities like sharing some time with the kids during a cultural meeting (typical dance, bands, games, football games or soccer, as the kids call it now).
We organize lecture activities for children and communitarian projects, such as giving a hand on painting and cleaning schools, construction of school desks…among others
All these activities take place with the people of the community. As a fact, all prices are net; the money is used to buy the materials used in the activities and to generate some communitarian income….
We love our district, that’s why every time you book one of the activities with us…the community is the first to get the help they need to achieve their goals.
Thank you for believing in us.
